Telluride Gondola
The Telluride/Mountain Village gondola is truly a one-of-a-kind transportation system, unique among ski resorts. The gondola provides complimentary transportation between the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village, and it serves both as a lift for skiers and snowboarders, but also as transportation for local and visitor pedestrians and to Telluride lodging. By taking the gondola from Telluride to Mountain Village (or vice-versa), guests and locals alike enjoy a spectacular and dramatically scenic ride,which takes about 15 minutes. The gondola opened in November 1996.
Since then, the gondola is used every day by both Telluride locals and visitors. The convenience, novelty, and scheduled hours of the gondola reduces the need to drive between Telluride and Mountain Village – and provides one of the most beautiful rides you’ll ever experience! Skiers and snowboarders can easily access the ski mountain from either town, and parents can ride with their children to the Ski School that meets at the base of the gondola in Mountain Village. Locals also use the gondola daily to access both towns, go to school and work, or just to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views.
The best part of the gondola however, is that it is always free – anytime of the year! The Telluride gondola is also handicap-accessible, pet-friendly (in certain cabins), and takes skis, snowboards and bikes. The gondola is open daily from 7am-midnight - and sometimes even later during the main summer music festivals. Come and enjoy it first-hand!
