Telluride mountain biking is fantastic in the summer

Telluride and Mountain Village are located in Southwest Colorado's majestic San Juan Mountains. What began as a turn-of-the-century mining community has evolved into a world-renowned Colorado vacation destination.

Location
Located on the scenic San Juan Skyway in Southwest Colorado, Telluride and Mountain Village are 67 miles south of Montrose, 127 miles south of Grand Junction, 125 miles northwest of Durango; 7 hours from Denver, 9 from Phoenix and 5 from Albuquerque. Telluride shares the same latitude as San Francisco, CA and Athens, Greece.

Climate
Summer temperatures in the high alpine, semi-arid climate of Telluride are typically in the 70s and 80s. Weather can change dramatically, even over the course of a few hours. Sunny mornings may be followed by afternoon thundershowers and clear evenings. Nighttime temperatures often dip into the 40s, which is perfect for sleeping.

Towns of Telluride & Mountain Village
Two towns in one, Telluride and Mountain Village offer the best of Colorado's past and progressive present. A National Historic Landmark District with Victorian-era architecture, Telluride rests at the base of the Telluride Ski Resort and is surrounded by 13,000-foot (almost 4,000-meter) peaks. Telluride is connected to Mountain Village by a free gondola. Located mid-mountain at 9,500 feet above sea level, Mountain Village overlooks some of Colorado's most magnificent peaks.
