Where Should I Stay?

There are a variety of accommodation choices available in the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village. Before deciding if you would like a Telluride or Mountain Village hotel, condo or vacation home rental you may want to consider the advantages and location options each offer.
No matter where you decide to stay you get to wake up in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the country. Almost any window you gaze out has magnificent views. That being said, there are still a number of considerations in making a lodging choice. First, you can choose to be in Mountain Village or the Town of Telluride. The two towns are connected by a complimentary 15-minute gondola ride that runs daily (7am-midnight) throughout the summer and winter seasons.
Town of Telluride:
The Town of Telluride is a National Historic District with Victorian architecture and a fun, well preserved downtown filled with great restaurants and shops. Being less than a mile from one end to the other, everything is close by and within walking distance. There is also a complimentary shuttle service called "the Galloping Goose" that loops through town all day. Lodging in Telluride includes many hotels, condominiums and private homes.
Condominiums are located throughout town serving specific location concerns depending on your vacation objective. You can choose to be closer to Lift 7, the gondola and lift 8, the river or the east side of town where most summer music festivals are held in Town Park. Just remember that where ever you choose to stay in the Town of Telluride you are on walking distance to everything - including the ski lifts! There are hotels in every price range, as well as condominiums priced according to interior appointments and the condition of the overall accommodation. Private home rentals are generally priced higher, but offer more space and bedding options - and most times, complete privacy.
If you are looking for a rental home in Telluride there are great options on the west side of town in Bachman Village, or more centrally located homes on West Pacific and Depot Avenue. These homes range from 3 to 5 bedrooms and can be combined with other homes nearby for large gatherings.
Many of the condos in Telluride are located along the River Trail, a beautiful walking trail along the San Miguel River - which runs through town. Being on the river makes it cool and quiet in the evenings, and allows easy access to the gondola, since you walk right by the gondola station on the river trail. Nothing in Telluride is more than a few blocks from main street, and strolling through town surrounded by towering peaks is one of the pleasures of being here. You can also choose to stay on the west side of Telluride for complete ski-in/out convenience.
Mountain Village:
Mountain Village is a newer resort community with a "core" that includes restaurants, shops and the base of the ski mountain. Mountain Village is primarily comprised of condo and vacation home rentals - most along the ski slopes and on the golf course. The Mountain Village "core" is an area at the base of the ski area where the gondola connecting Telluride is located. In the core, there are a number of very nice hotel and condominium vacation rentals, along with restaurants, shops and lift ticket windows. Most of our condo complexes are located in the core with great access to ski school and the gondola.
Private home rentals in Mountain Village are spread throughout the ski resort or along the golf course. These homes provide more privacy and are perfect for single or multi-family getaways. Many Mountain Village homes offer the ultimate in luxury and mountain living.
There are also a number of hotels and inns to choose from. For a complete selection of our hotel rooms in Telluride, please visit TellurideHotels.com.
