Stayed at Manitou for three days.

Rented #7 with kitchenette for three days with my wife and two teenage sons. Great place to stay, a little small for 4 but very cozy and European feel. The sofa bed is not comfortable to sleep on but the beds upstairs are great so if the kids could have shared the double bed would have been better. The kitchenette is functional only for minimal use, no microwave which is a problem. The breakfast is not anything to write home about, they should improve on this. The hot tub is great, we don't like indoor hot tubs but we left the door open and it was like being outside. The wooden hot tub made us feel like we were in Hot Tub Time Machine. People complain about the parking situation but if you score a spot in the area right at the end of 1st street is is great, or you can use the spot right next to the bridge to unload and it is a short walk over the bridge to the lodge. The location is incredible, 2 minute walk to the gondola and Oak Street lift, two blocks to Colorado Ave. I probable would not stay again only because of the kitchen and the fact we were a little cramped with four of us. However for a couple or family of four with small children, perfect and a very good value.
Manager's Response:
Thank you for your review of the Manitou Lodge. We appreciate the feedback and are happy you and your family stayed with us. You just can't beat the location.

My family has been staying at the Manitou going back 20 years and we have many happy memories there. The price is reasonable and the rooms are modest but comfortable. Many of the rooms have balconies which adds a nice element and the trails and gondola are very convenient. Telluride Lodging has always been easy to work with and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this property.
Manager's Response:
What a treat - to continue to make new memories at Manitou Lodge after all these years! Thank you for your loyalty to our lodge; it's guests like you who really enhance the joy of managing this property. We can't wait for your return.

Perfect lodging in the heart of Telluride

Very pleased with our lodging in Telluride. Everything from restaurants to shops and hiking and biking trails close-by with no need to drive a car. I was nice have an small kitchen as needed and upstairs bedroom. The morning breakfast was delicious and the guy every morning baked fresh scones and cinnamon buns. Will recommend Manitou Lodge to friends.
Manager's Response:
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay at the Manitou Lodge! The breakfast is one of our favorite features of the property. We hope to see you (and your friends) soon!

Overall very good - just not 4 star

Positives: excellent location on river, perfect short walk to Main Street, gondola and restaurants. Breakfast included was a nice surprise. Beds were very comfortable. Lovely view from windows. Negatives: furnishings were shabby; rug was a little suspect - damp to the bare foot. Why don’t lodgings use tiled floors? No microwave, and freezer was unusable - hadn’t been defrosted and was solid ice.
Manager's Response:
Thanks to taking the time to leave a review for Manitou Lodge #7. We love the location of the Manitou Lodge and breakfast there is one of our favorites! Not all of the units at the Manitou offer microwaves, but we will definitely address the issue with the freezer as soon as possible. We hope to see you again soon!

Nice little condo

Very nice little place right on the stream. The walking path along the backside of Telluride is right outside the door of the lodge. It's less than 2 blocks from the gondola (a free and beautiful ride over to Mountain Village) and to a good hike up to Bear Creek Falls. Also only 2 or 3 blocks walk to the main street of town. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was nicely updated, and there is a small kitchen with a mini fridge and stove top. There is a coffee maker, but remember to bring coffee filters with you. The hot tub is very nice and much needed after a good hike. Great place to have a long weekend and take in a beautiful town!
Manager's Response:

We only stayed here one night. It was older, but very cozy. The location was perfect. Parking was a problem, but once we sorted that out, we enjoyed our short stay in Telluride. We’d definitely love to come back to Telluride.

Great Location

We enjoyed staying at the Manitou Lodge #7. It is perfectly located. The kitchen hostesses were so friendly and the daily breakfast was always tasty and plentiful. Terrific hot tub. Our place overlooked the river and was 2 stories with a balcony up an down. There were 2 queen beds upstairs but beware, one of the beds is tucked into a very tight nook and there is a beam that is head level (it is covered with a thick padding) so watch out! The bathroom is tiny and there aren't many places to put toiletries especially in the shower. There is a small kitchen in this unit which is handy. The place is rather old (80's I'd guess) and the furnishings look kind of shabby and haphazard but clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was with housekeeping. We were there 7 nights and did get fresh towels mid week but there was no cleaning and the trash wasn't even removed. All in all though it was very enjoyable and a quiet, clean place to stay.
Manager's Response:
Thank you for reviewing your stay in the Manitou Lodge. Its sounds like, overall, your had a good stay. We hope to welcome you back to Telluride again in the future.

A comfortable apartment located right on the river (we were so pleased to see dippers [birds] most days). Within easy reach of chairlifts, gondola, market and eateries. Hosts were warm, friendly and engaging. We forgot there was a hot-tub otherwise would have brought our gear. What else is there to want? We can't wait to go back.
Manager's Response:
We appreciate your enthusiastic review of the Manitou Lodge and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Cosy home by the creek

5
Dates Stayed:
Mon, 01/16/2017 to Wed, 01/18/2017
Manitou #7 was very homey and close to everything. It was ski in/ski out, with a little effort, while town was just across the creek. The condo came with a small kitchen that was perfect for simple cooking. Breakfast was served downstairs in the common room, so you didn't even need a kitchen for that. Both beds were really comfortable. The condo was across a small footbridge from the road, which meant that it was really quiet and peaceful. It also meant that you had to walk your gear across the creek, which could be a hassle if you don't pack well or you have a lot of groceries. Plan ahead and it is not a problem.
Manager's Response:
Thank you for your detailed reveiw of Manitou Lodge #7 and for providing good advice for future guests. We look forward to see you on your next trip.

Many Issues - Very Disappointed

1
Dates Stayed:
Tue, 11/22/2016 to Wed, 11/23/2016
I already wrote a review for VRBO which very interestingly isn't posted yet. I will be following up with VRBO to ensure my review IS posted. For starters, the room was extremely cold when we arrived, This was because someone had left the balcony doors wide open. I closed the doors and turned the heat up but it NEVER got above the 60s inside the room - even by the next morning it was uncomfortably cold. Although I did call the after-hours number in the evening, the only solution I was given was that she could stop by with a space heater. Just what we want. To have to deal with a noisy space heater on our vacation. Second, the internet never worked. I travel a lot and use internet in many places and your's did not work at all. Not ok, especially when the cell service is weak and your'e traveling with a 17 and you have to check your email. Third, the refrigerator ruined our food. When I awoke in the cold room and went down to make breakfast, I was stunned to discover that the refrigerator - although we had touched no controls - had frozen our food into unusable BLOCKS OF ICE. WE ENDED UP LEAVING AT 8AM TO BE IN A WARM CAR AND GO BUY BREAKFAST SOMEWHERE ELSE. When I stopped to drop off the parking pass, I spoke with an agent in your office and I told her all of the above. Her only response????? "Sorry". NOT ACCEPTABLE. As someone who lives in Montrose, I very frequently am asked for recommendations for lodging in Telluride. After the above experience, and the very unsatisfactory response to our troubles, I will not be recommending any of your properties to anyone. I wasn't expecting high-end luxury but at a minimum the heat and the internet should have worked, and our food should not have been ruined - causing us even further frustration, loss of money and time. Simply saying "Sorry" doesn't come close to helping. The ONLY reason 1 star is checked on some categories below is that I was forced to check something in order to submit this review.
Manager's Response:
We are so sorry to hear about the difficulties that you experienced during your stay and that we couldn’t make satisfactory accommodations while you were here in town. Usually the rooms at Manitou Lodge are very cozy, and it is a favorite of many of our guests. I would like to make this right with you. Please give me a call to discuss remedies at 970-729-8829. Sincerely, Sara Felton, VP of Operations
